Shea made her way to Richmond\, California\, with her huge family at age 10. Shea’s comedy and singing career began in her lively and colorful childhood. As a child\, Shea was given to dressing up in her own made-up characters who entertained at family functions. Shea’s favorite character\, Motha Gertha\, is alive and well as a 64-year -old church granny who battles demons and is addicted to glitter and bling. Motha Gertha is loved throughout churches\, comedy clubs\, schools and corporate businesses all over the California Bay Area. After launching her stand-up career on May 5\, 2005\, Shea opened for comedian Luenell just two weeks later. Shea has made it to the finals in numerous comedy competitions and took 2nd place in the “U Better Be Funny Competition” in 2008 in Phoenix\, Arizona. Since then\, Shea has hosted and featured for headliners such as Sinbad\, Sheryl Underwood\, DL Hugley\, Tommy Davidson\, Bruce Bruce\, Earthquake\, and Lavell Crawford\, among others. Shea’s comedic style is characterized by engaging story-telling pickled with unexpected\, gut-busting one-liners. Shea sparkles on stage in a swirl of personality contrasts and cultural richness that appeal to audiences of all ages and walks of life. She is sometimes endearingly demur\, and at other times gutsy as the All-American Woman. She is smooth and poetic as she breaks into jokes about awkward and farcical situations. The duo says their sound is “about beats… but on our terms\,” meaning\, presumably\, something different from the norm (there is never a drum machine employed in the music). In fact\, expect beaten-metal clouds of mercury syringe-drops\, squeezed into popcycles of sub-prime numbers only\, with peanut-prawn curry icing. \nhttp://runciblespoonfight.com/ \nhttps://soundcloud.com/runcible-spoon-fight/live-in-a-room-excerpt \nDave Rempis – Darren Johnston – Larry Ochs Trio \nDave Rempis\, Alto Saxophone / Darren Johnston\, Trumpet / Larry Ochs\, Tenor and Sopranino Saxophones \nThis free-improvising trio came together in the fall of 2011\, when Rempis journeyed to the West Coast to discover some things about his compatriots on the Bay Area improvising scene. Trumpeter Johnston\, a frequent visitor to Chicago\, where the two had collaborated in several different settings in the years prior\, suggested this trio lineup for a performance at Oakland’s Uptown Nightclub. Although Rempis hadn’t worked with Ochs before\, the latter’s renowned experience in the all-horn lineup of The ROVA Saxophone Quartet made the idea especially appealing. From the first few notes\, that initial meeting flowed comfortably\, yet in totally unexpected ways\, with all three making logical structural decisions that gave their improvisations the feel of through-composed pieces. \nEager to continue developing this language that the three later came to dub “invisible architecture\,” Rempis made a follow-up trip to the Bay Area in the spring of 2012 for two more concerts and a studio recording session. Spectral\, the first document of their work\, was the result of that visit\, and shows an improvising trio playing out an audible game of chess. Not satisfied with simply existing in the moment\, these three combine sensibilities to look many moves ahead\, setting each other up time and again to capitalize on structural possibilities that give rare and meaningful form to an otherwise very spontaneous music. Ivey played in pioneer El Paso punk band Rhythm Pigs. Moving to San Francisco in the mid-Eighties\, Ivey and his band recorded five original albums and toured heavily in North America and Europe. When the band broke up\, Ivey worked in Texas as newspaper reporter until moving back to San Francisco in 1992. \nA Grammy nominee (2011)\, Ivey has been a standout in the San Francisco music scene for decades. He has been a lightning rod in the city’s music scene\, putting together new combinations of players and teaching New Orleans brass band tradition to school kids. He has played with noted Texas singer Gary Floyd\, ragtime man Dan Hicks\, bluesman JJ Malone\, surf-mariachi act Los Mex Pistols Del Norte\, eclectic uke band Old Puppy\, blues harp ace Jay Gaunt and many more. \nJL Stiles ~ is a unique animal who for the first time is merging two totally different fields of truth seeking: Ragtime blues and higher mathematics. Both of these disparate strands filtered through a lifetime on the run\, searching for a universal truth from psychedelic Brazilian forests to US college campuses and further into his own unique vision. JL Stiles has a mind that sees music in a similar way to how J.S. Bach saw music. However\, Bach never played the blues. \nAs for the blues: JL has opened for many a blues great\, including BB King\, Etta James and JJ Cale. Surprisingly\, looking at such a history\, most of his originals would not be considered blues or folkways yet Maybelle Carter\, Blind Blake and the rest of his honored forebears haunt everything he does\, including his upcoming song-of-the-ages album\, JL Stiles presents House of Murmurs\, on which producer Etienne de Rocher (Sean Hayes) plied his remarkable talents. DESCRIPTION:Two Piece Tuesdays is a weekly event offering glorious live music and performance. Free.  \nPresenting……..GARY FLOYD & THE BUDDHA BROTHERS \nBear-like\, incendiary frontman Gary Floyd first emerged in the public consciousness with Austin\, TX\, political punkers the Dicks. The group released fiery albums on SST and Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles labels before their dissolution in 1985. The Dicks had moved to San Francisco at one point\, but when they chose to return to Austin\, Gary Floyd stayed behind\, forming Sister Double Happiness with former Dicks drummer Lynn Perko in 1986. \nThe new group wallowed in furious\, blues-tinged hard rock fueled by Floyd’s dynamic belting ability. The band sparked enough interest to sign to major-label Reprise for 1991’s Heart & Mind. The group broke up in 1995\, however\, and Floyd moved on to form the Gary Floyd Band\, which released the album Broken Angels in 1995. Floyd released the solo effort\, Backdoor Preacher Man\, in 2000. Early in the new millennium\, Floyd hooked up with some Bay Area musicians to form Black Kali Ma (named after a Hindu goddess)\, a group which continued the punk/blues/hard rock spirit of Floyd’s past.
