SUMMARY:Topographies\, Vacant Stares\, Fawns of Love
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, July 7\n9pm \nTopographies – topographies.bandcamp.com\nVacant Stares (Portland) – vacantstares.bandcamp.com\nFawns of Love – fawnsoflove.bandcamp.com \nTopographies  \nTopographies is a dreamy post-punk band from the Bay Area. Formed in 2018\, the band meshes guitars and hushed vocals of ’90s shoegaze with the urgency and mechanical rhythms of post-punk. “A hypnotic wall of fuzzy distortions and reverbs and repetitive drums\, backed by dreamy vocals\, all bathed in a lysergic\, obsessive and soaring haze\, that\, instead of imploding\, floating in a wonderful mess of melodies and swirling harmonies for a pure intense and emotional ending.” – White Light / White Heat \nVacant Stares  \nVacant Stares is a saturated goth band from Portland with brooding vocals and hints of cold wave and danceable synth pop. \nFawns of Love  \nFawns of Love is a dreampop duo from Bakersfield comprised of married couple Joseph and Jenny\, both of whom are also full-time educators – Joseph teaches middle school\, Jenny is a full-time instructor at CSU-Bakersfield. They have been married for 15 years and performing together for 18 years; recording\, touring\, and releasing music throughout that time under various names and labels. Paste proclaimed Fawns of Love\, “a dreampop gem.” \nThe Uptown\n1928 Telegraph Ave\nOakland CA \n1 block from 19th street BART\n1.4 miles from Mosswood Park 🚶🏻🍔 👀

SUMMARY:Major! Film Benefit for Mama Major Auntie Sharyn Grayson
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nA BENEFIT for our revered trans Elder Activists: Sharyn Grayson manages House of GG’s: Griffin-Gracy Educational Retreat & Historical Center and Urban Sanctuary in Arkansas. Miss Major is a veteran of the Stonewall Rebellion and a survivor of Attica State Prison\, a former sex worker\, an elder\, and a community leader and activist. For the next week 7.9.19 – 7.15.19\, we will be collecting funds for the next week and anything collected during this period will fund Auntie Sharyn Grayson and Mama Major. Look below for details. \n“Miss Major” – has suffered a stroke and Auntie Sharyn Grayson has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor that will require surgery. On Sunday\, July 14th\, 2019\, we will raise awareness and funds for both of our trans elder activists Mama Major + Sharyn Grayson via a screening of the documentary MAJOR! Medical bills and care for Miss Major after her recent hospitalization. Please help support the women who has been mama and comrade for so many people in her giant chosen family. \nMiss Major Medical Update: She is about to transfer to inpatient acute rehab today. She still has weakness on the right side and slurred speech but she was singing along to music and smiling this morning. \nSharyn Grayson Medical Update: I just got off the phone with my surgeon regarding Wednesday. The latest test results show\, apparently\, the tumor is much closer to an artery than was originally noted. Hence the reason for my extreme shortness of breath and weakness. This is a concern\, in that I may not be able to sustain the original surgery as planned. However\, he has to go in to determine if he can remove the tumor without creating trauma to the artery and my breathing capacity. If not\, he will discontinue the surgery and we will have to proceed with radiation treatment. This would not be the best option\, but it is ‘an option’! With everything else going on…this is now a little bit more to take in! I was resigned to the surgical procedure we originally discussed and planned…this “curveball” places a new spin on things! Wow! My “big sis/warrior” is down…and here I stand in this dark\, lonely space…truly praying (now) for a miracle! \nWORDS from Auntie Sharyn Grayson:\nY’all keep us both in your prayers. This is really a critical time for us…and when you’ve heard me speak about “our being tired – bodies worn – and having to count on our younger leaders to step up”…THIS is the reality!!! But\, I know you know that WE love you…so keep us in your prayers and loving thoughts as we move forward thru our separate journeys

SUMMARY:Soul Vision Records Presents: Savage Mind - 1995 - Album Release
DESCRIPTION:Bio: Born in the Philippines but raised in Pittsburg\, CA\, Savage Mind is an up-and-coming Bay Area based Jazz Musician turned rapper/producer. His style meshes smooth and soulful harmonies with the exhilarating bounce of G-funk and Boom Bap rap but with a Bay Area bounce. After graduation from UC Berkeley\, he released his first project Soul as a summary of his years in college. He began rapping in 2013 and beat-making/producing in 2014. Influences include J.Cole\, Mozzy\, Caleborate\, Elujay as well as Terrace Martin\, Boogie\, Kendrick Lamar\, Dr. Dre\, and Quincy Jones. He continues to collaborate with producers\, artists\, and creative people all around the East Bay and the greater Bay Area in general. \nAlbum Info: 1995 is Savage Mind’s largest album debut release to date. With 15-tracks and 7 featured artists\, his album explores a wide arrange of hip-hop sub-genres\, maneuvering through elegant rhythmic and harmonic flurries simultaneously with the ferocity of booming 808s and piercing lyricism. 1995 is an ode to his birth year and generation but also content-wise\, a manifestation of his working-class and immigrant struggles. The album is a shout for Savage Mind’s existence and a musical offering to his homies\, heritage\, and ancestry. \nSupport from:\nsounds by Niko\nJ.Rap\nSharif Hassan\nZaldy Tubig\nMVK \n21+ with valid ID \nThe Uptown is just around the corner from 19th Street BART and is wheelchair accessible
