GINA VILLALOBOS
Known for holding her heart up in all its vulnerable lucidity, her lines & melodies scrape away the layers of denial that get us through the everyday. Like the realist short stories of Raymond Carver, her songs are visceral anthems in which one senses the bottom has fallen out, making visible the seriousness of what’s at stake, the songs affirm that possibility has always existed…and in fact still exists.

Villalobos became one of the most acclaimed new artists in the alternative country community with her breakthrough album, 2005’s Rock N Roll Pony when legendary BBC disc jockey Bob Harris called it “a contender for album of the year.” Her follow-up release, Miles Away, increased her profile and cemented the album as “timeless and combines every element that makes a recording a classic…” (Paste Magazine).
Villalobos’ fourth solo album, Days on Their Side, reveals “a new depth with the slightest shift in light…taking the Lucinda Williams/Sheryl Crow model to a new level.” -(American Songwriter magazine). Her most recent offering, Sola was described as “confident & instantly addictive.” (Mojo Magazine)

In late 2015, Villalobos wrote and produced music for the Golden Globe Award– and Emmy Award–winning Amazon Studios TV show Transparent. The derivative work of the 1971 Sly and the Family Stone hit “Family Affair” featured the vocals of Ruby Friedman and was used in the trailer promoting the launch of the show’s second season.

Villalobos is nothing if not dead serious. Her music is deeply rooted in time, place, and history. She’s the real thing: an artist, someone who can show you where you are.

KIM LEMBO
Kim Lembo is a Bay Area Musician with 30 years in the music business. In the 90’s and early 2000’s, she was signed with indie label, Blue Wave Records as well as French label, Sky Ranch Records, a subsidy of Virgin Records. With 4 releases under her belt, she left the label’s and set off for the Bay Area to take a short hiatus from the business. The short hiatus turned into 15 well lived years.
In 2015 she came back strong with her self-released 5th album, “45 Miles”, an intimate portrait of her life in relationships and love. A slight departure from the blues/rock she had been doing, “45 Miles” is more country blues and roots than rock/blues but as always, features her soulful sound.
Currently, Lembo can be found playing throughout the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest either solo or with her band “The Kim Lembo Project”, a collection of rotating bay area musicians bringing everything from rocking guitar to middle eastern oud. The sound is raw, original and retro. This in addition to producing events focusing on featuring women with her songwriting series and podcast, Grab Em By The Songs.
Whether with her full band or, solo Lembo brings blues, with an edgy soulfulness combined with poetic lyrics and storytelling. Her voice is big and echoes a kind of Etta James meets Lucinda Williams if they played in a band with Janis Joplin. It is the sound of music you cannot define by a singular genre. She sings from her soul with songs written from the heart.
Lembo has played all over the US and has recorded in France, California, and NY. From the stages of Paris to hiking up the side of the Great Wall of China with a guitar and a slightly broken foot, she has brought her uniquely deep and powerful voice to thousands throughout the world. Lembo has a voice to be reckoned with and a story to be shared.
Kim Lembo can be found in the Bay Area California rabble rousing and playing/producing events.
She is originally from Syracuse, New York.
