Waves of Resistance: Art & Music Benefit to Stop Line 3

Hip hop meets cumbia meets live art.

Don’t miss out on this all WOMXN of color line-up, including some of the Bay Area’s finest, exclusive designs and live screen printing.

A benefit show to support the indigenous-led grassroots resistance to the construction of the Line 3 pipeline, that would pass through ancestral Ojibwe and Dakota lands (so-called Minnesota). For a year now, these water protectors have exposing and directly confronting Enbridge, whose sure-to-leak pipeline threatens the land of the 12,000 lakes, the place where 1/5 of the world’s fresh water lies.

ALIA SHARRIEF is a revolutionary hip hop artist with the fire to spit truth to power and the character to live that truth each day. She is a skilled, lyrical performer with an individual style, a rare Muslimah in the rap game, and an advocate of modesty, dignity, and common sense. Sharrief also engages in community organizing from her home base in Oakland, California. She uses her time and skills there to unite and educate people locally and internationally.

VERSOUL is an Alternative Hip-Hop Artist, Producer and Sound Engineer born in San Francisco, California who writes music as a form of expression and self-discovery since the young age of 8. Proudly mixed with the roots of Japanese, Hawaiian, Filipino, Salvadorian and Italian descent, Versoul dedicates her musical intention to inspire other mixed youth all around the world to continue pushing forward through life, struggles and oppression, with self-love, resilience, and humility in order to break all boundaries, destroy stereotypes and eliminate double standards brought on by society and mainstream media. As a child, her interest in music grew when she would write poetry that turned into raps, and eventually started recording music at 15 years old.

DIOGANHDIH is a Haudenosaunee-Mohawk hip-hop artist delivering bold flows packed with wit and resilience. Dioganhdih’s work as a queer, gender non-conforming indigenous artist builds community among their intersections. Dioganhdih’s art infuses the sounds and culture of their indigenous roots. In recent years Dio has toured the US performing their music and works as an activist protecting our environment and creating political change.

DJ MALA VIDA of the Chulita Vinyl Club: Born in Guanajuato, Mexico and raised in the southside of Chicago, Noemi is a queer multidisciplinary artist who expresses her creativity through her migrant/xota experience. Her latest endeavor has been heavily influenced by the dynamic all girl all vinyl collective, Chulita Vinyl Club. Spinning mambo, electro-cumbia, hip/hop, and house gems that bring back memories from childhood.

Chulita Vinyl Club is made up of women, gender-non-conforming, non-binary, LGBTQ+ and self-identifying people of color. CVC launched in 2014, with the context of providing a safe space for empowerment, togetherness and to utilize music and vinyl as a form of resistance against the erasure of culture.
