On the first Friday of every month, The Uptown presents a FREE live music showcase that celebrates mostly Bay Area artists and musicians. This 11-year-old event highlights bands who we believe deserve your attention.
October’s free first Friday showcase features Oakland’s punky lo-fi indie pop outfit Banzai Cliff (Tank Beach Tapes), Oakland fuzzy jangle pop band Melba Cults (Cold Cut Records), Los Angeles garage punk gentlemen Maniac (Dirt Cult Records / Hovercraft), and Austin, Texas earnest power pop tinged post-punk group Talkies (Burger Records, Death Records). Plus DJ Stand-In spinning vinyl between and after sets.
