Cindy is a dreamy indiepop / sad rock band from San Francisco. They self-released their debut 12″ LP in November 2018. It has charted on KALX radio as one of the 50 most played records on air for three consecutive months, topping in at #27.
Blades of Joy
Blades of Joy features ex-members of Swanox and Dissolve. Their debut LP was recently released by San Francisco indie label Melters. It is pure pop for poets, rock for reality. How good this music is remains one of San Francisco’s most closely-guarded secrets, but talk to the right people and you’ll find out what’s been causing murmurs of adoration and envy. Blades of Joy do wear some influences on their sleeves: listen for guitar lines that pull threads from the spooky and spectral coats of the DURUTTI COLUMN and FELT, pull reels of tape from the wistful Tascam of ROY MONTGOMERY in his East Village years, pull a gin-soaked paper towel out of the Levi’s jacket of the RED HOUSE PAINTERS. Vocals that channel the sublime clarity of KENDRA SMITH or BARBARA MANNING. A real rock band rhythm section capable of riding a cosmic groove guaranteed to delight Slumberland/Teenbeat aficionados.
Al Harper
Al Harper is an Oakland musician who fronts her soft rock / dreampop band of the same name. Her songs will make you weep discreetly as they drag you through a high school soap opera’s worth of emotions.
