Shanna Sordahl, IMA x Caroline Tigre, Stone Raft

Shanna Sordahl::
Shanna Sordahl is a sound artist and composer based in Oakland, CA. Using amplified cello with analog and digital electronics and installation art as her primary mediums, Shanna’s work is a continual exploration of one’s relationship to both sound and physical spaces. She emphasizes timbral changes, the resonant body of objects, and the re-contextualization of sound through the use of unconventional playing techniques, feedback, and audience immersion. Shanna strives to create sonic and physical spaces that induce a focused state of awareness, where one is encouraged to reflect on or reconsider their relationship to sound, people and spaces. With an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College, Shanna has worked with a variety of choreographers and composers including Simpson/Stulberg Collaborations, Wax Poet(s), Trimpin, Wrekmeister Harmonies, and Sarah Davachi. IMA x Caroline Tigre::
IMA is Nava Dunkelman x Amma Ateria, marching forth with fearless percussion, stark electronics, and Japnanese poetry. Deconstructing and dissolving heavy music through restraint and release, IMA strives for a balance between meticulous precision of instrumentation and densities driven to brinks of breakage situated by beautification in between. IMA has been presented in residency at The Stone, San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, San Francisco Art Institute, and CCRMA. www.imanoise.me

Caroline Tigre is a multidisciplinary performance artist from Baltimore, Maryland. She plays with choreography and improvisation, and performed in various projects since she was 19. She likes to observe nuances of sensations when she dances, has two degrees in philosophy, and contributed song writing and improvisation in various bands. www.carolinetigre.com

Stone Raft::
Stone Raft is a quartet consisting of veteran improvisers Josh Allen (tenor saxophone), Tom Weeks (alto saxophone), Tim Duff (bass), and Aaron Levin (drums) formed in 2017 in Oakland, CA. Billing themselves as “West Coast energy music for continental secessionists”, Stone Raft performs powerful free improv in the spirit of Charles Gayle, Milford Graves, Peter Brötzmann, and Sonny Simmons. Their music incorporates intense polyphony, atavistic vigor, and avant-garde technique.
