It was largely dismissed upon its initial release, but in 2012 the British Film Institute named it the 8th greatest film ever made, and later named the best documentary of all time.

Drawing its inspiration from the clove and incense scented air of Bali, Indonesia, Gamelan X explores the sonic landscape of contemporary beleganjur gamelan to offer a wildly unique expression of both East and West. This is a premiere show of a piece commissioned from Balinese-American composer Putu Tangkas Adi Hiranmayena, who will be joining Gamelan X for this show.
